GIS-basierte Identifikation des Gebäudesanierungsstatus

Suggested by: Ingrid Schardinger, Studio iSPACE Research Studios Austria

Short description:

Start / finish by: ab sofort

Prerequisites / qualifications:

  • GIS, räumliche Analysemethoden
  • Interesse an nachhaltiger Energieversorgung
  • Fundierte Deutschkenntnisse

Add remarks:

Spatial energy planning

Suggested by:
M. Biberacher (Tel: +43 662 908585-221, E-Mail: markus.biberacher@researchstudio.at)
I. Schardinger (Tel: +43 660 908585-223, E-Mail: ingrid.schardinger@researchstudio.at)

Short description:
Do you want to contribute to the transformation of energy supply towards sustainable energy systems? We offer motivated students the opportunity to complete a Master thesis in one of the following subject areas:
  • Solar potential: Spatial modelling of technically and economically usable roof areas based on a digital terrain model and digital surface model and identification of further areas with utilisation potential apart from roof areas and agricultural areas (e.g. parking areas)
  • Solar self-supply: Development of an approach for modelling the achievable self-sufficiency through photovoltaics.
  • Heat potential from wastewater: Development of spatial models of wastewater generation, accumulation routing and identification of optimal heat extraction points.
  • Development of a simplified approach for spatially concrete and area-wide heat demand estimation.
  • Scenarios of heat demand development considering refurbishment, new construction, climate change.
  • Potential areas for heat grids: Further development of existing approaches, e.g. for cold district heating.

Start: any time

Prerequisites / qualifications:

  • Ongoing Master's programme in geoinformatics / computer science / spatial planning / technical studies related to energy.
  • Experience with GIS software and coding (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, SQL, Python)
  • Interest in sustainable energy systems
  • Independent working style and high level of commitment

The Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft mbH. works as an innovation pipeline from Austria's universities to the market. The Smart Energy Balances working group in the iSPACE research studio addresses scientific approaches to spatially motivated issues in the context of regional and supra-regional energy systems. They primarily serve decision-making processes in municipalities, institutions, and the energy industry, which face major challenges - such as increasing energy demand, climate protection or geopolitical risks - within the framework of their national and international interconnections.
