Observations and Measurements in Mountainbiking

Supervisor

Short description

Observations and Measurements (O&M2.0) is a standard of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). O&M 2.0 is related to the OGC Sensor Observation Service (SOS 2.0), an interface standard defined as XML schema. Altogether, both are core elements in the OGC Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) suite. In mountainbiking, bike sensors and wearables capture multiple phenomena in space and time. This is comparable to environmental measurements for instance in the water domain. However, even in hydrology, environmental observations during monitoring campaign are different. Thus, specific mark-up languages developed (WaterML2.0, GroundwaterML2). However, for moutainbiking no such mark-up language exist to adjust the overarching O&M standard towards the requirements in mountainbiking. The main objective of this work is to suggest and to test a first notation of a Mountainbike Mark-Up Language (MTB_ML) and to use the OGC Sensor Model Language (SensorML) "to provide a robust and semantically-tied means of defining processes and processing components associated with the measurement and post-measurement transformation of observations".
